Omagh case to become more thorny

13 May 2008

The court in the civil case brought by six of the Omagh victims’ families has heard that potentially contentious questions will be heard when the case returns to the High Court in Belfast.

The hearing has moved to Dublin to take evidence from up to 30 gardaí.

District Court Judge Conal Gibbons briefly handed over to Justice Declan Morgan from Belfast this morning to resolve difficulties over questions that lawyers for the five men being sued considered possibly prejudicial.

Lawyers for the families told the court that they had agreed to set aside the problmatic questions so that Judge Gibbons could continue hearing factual evidence from the gardaí.
