An Orange hall has been vandalised on the outskirts of Newry, County Down.
Extensive damage was caused to windows and a memorial plaque at the property on Chancellor’s Road. The vandals had forced their way inside the hall.
Ulster Unionist Newry and Armagh assembly member Danny Kennedy said it was the latest in a series of attacks on Altnaveigh hall.
“This hall is in a rural isolated spot close to the border, and is relatively easy to attack,” he said.
Mr Kennedy said vandalism of a memorial plaque to Orangemen murdered during the Troubles was a “new level of depravity”.
The attack is believed to have happened at some point between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
