An Irish Bowling Champion living in County Antrim has said he does not know why he has been the target of a suspected sectarian attack.
Gary Kelly’s car was destroyed by a petrol bomb in Ballymoney on Thursday night.
Mr Kelly, a Catholic, has been living in the same house in the mainly Protestant area for over 20 years.
Speaking on Friday, Mr Kelly said “we just can’t get our heads around it, we don’t understand”.
He said: “Before the attack there was a note put through our letter box as well which said ‘your republican connections will not go unnoticed’.”
Mr Kelly added: “It is just scary the thought that the petrol bomb could have been in through our front living room window rather than the car window.”
North Antrim Sinn Fein MLA Daithi McKay has condemned the attack.
Mr McKay said he had “concerns that loyalist paramilitaries are involved in these attacks”.
He said: “This was an absolutely disgraceful attack in Ballymoney and I know that people from across the community in this town will condemn it outright.”
